Massive Leap

Today I was attepmting what to me was a fair sized and challenging leap. I would kick off the slanted rock and try to keep my speed going and flow throught the air and land on the far rock. I ALMOST had it, i was sososoooo close, but, when I almost had it, I suddenly ran out of energy and decided not to do it anymore to save hurting myself. Fear not! I will do it one day, it is located about 3-4 hours from where i live so not too soon. But when I get my flow going a bit better and I am confident enough, I will drive that 3-4 hours just to do this random little leap thing. :)

What do you really want?

Think hard
Think deep
Think about what it is in life that truely matters to you. It could be anything. Whatever it is, think hard about it and make sure that it is what is most important to you.
Are you free?
It is important that your goal is clear, and that it means something to you.
Following an unsure dream is an unsure path.
Think about it and watch the attached video....
This relates to my movement, how? My goal is to be free in as many ways as possible, physically and mentally. After you watch this video think about this. Do I know what I really want? Are my beliefs mine? or someone elses? Are we free? are we influenced by the media, politics, religion and the rest of the world? This video is proof of possibility. Under very simple circumstances and in a short time period, our views and opinions can change dramatically due to these subconscious influences. In the case of the video, the man didn't even know what his original want was because he was so convinced.
Now I'm not some "AH! IT'S A CONSPIRACY" type person, and I'm not saying that this is what they do to people, I am just proving that this stuff is possible in whatever way or form and that you should be sure of what you want, believe, think, need, etc.
I want as much freedom as I can get in this world. Why? Good question. Because parkour has given me a taste of freedom and confidence that feels so good and I feel I need to persue further, in other aspects of my life.
Think something is impossible? Why? Did someone say that it was? Do you think that it is?
Or do you not think that you are trained and confident enough to do it? That's different, that doesn't mean it's impossible. Pro can't do it so you can't?
All of these small messages can build up strong enough to create a subconcious belief. Even if they are unintended messages. So think about it a little more. How can I move on that? Why couldn't he do it? What did he do wrong?
What do you 'need' in life?
Is it what the T.V. said you need?
Or do you even need anything at all?
Think about this as your ideas grow off of what I have seeded.

Build a Parkour Park?

Last year, I had contacted the Adelaide city council about building a parkour park.
They were actually very excited about it because it is something 'new and arty'
Also, having the first and only parkour park in Australia, would attract people from differents places.
I was working with Felonius from the APA (Australian Parkour Association) along with the council.
I made it clear to the council that Parkour was serious and wasnt going to just 'die out'
and we didnt want it to end up like skating, so both parties wanted to create a positive scene.
We needed to get a grant of coarse.
But we also needed to raise awareness of parkour before something like this could take place,
We then started working with CarClew Youth Arts Group to put on a parkour presentation of some sort
during the festivals.
Something that would attract youths and create an understanding amoung the adults.
,,,,,,,,
This was all a great idea, until we decided not to do it.
Felonius suggested, and I agreed, that the best way to introduce parkour positivley, was to educate about it properly.
We decided that workshops and 'come and try' events, interacting instead of creating a spectator sport, would
be the best way of bringing it in.

And lets be realistic, no matter how nice the parkour park is, the city wont get what they want, there will still be traceurs parkouring the city. like skaters, and who can blame them? Traceurs dont want to be confined to one place anyway, so we wouldn't be meeting them half way there.

This way, people would understand it, be able to practice it safely, and we wouldnt get such a bad image if we were to have a mature attitude about it.
,,,,,,,,,
The council then, also agreed with us and told us that it was a wise decision and that they would support what we feel we need to do.
This was a better outcome as we have earned the positive image from the council and some respect and better understanding of eachother needs.
,,,,,,,,,
So for now , in Adelaide, Felonius is just going to run so unofficial training sessions where newbies can come and have a try and learn how to train properly. And in the future, why not hold somekind of local parkour event? maybe a BBQ or something?
Nothing flashy or expensive, just to get together with fellow traceurs, raise some interest and have fun!
